2023 batch IAS officer Puja Khedkar, currently embroiled in a controversy over her UPSC selection process and allegations of undue privilege, has declared assets worth Rs 17 crore, according to AAP Maharashtra unit vice-president Vijay Kumbhar. As reported by NDTV, Khedkar’s 2023 statement of immovable property reveals ownership of three plots of land in Pune district valued at Rs 20 crore. Additionally, she possesses two plots in Ahmednagar district, worth Rs 1.25 crore collectively, gifted by her mother.
Khedkar also owns two flats: one in Ahmednagar’s Savedi valued at Rs 45 lakh, and another in Pune’s Kondhwa worth Rs 75 lakh. Acquired between 2014 and 2019, these properties generate an annual income of Rs 42 lakh for Khedkar.
Kumbhar’s tweet further alleges that Khedkar’s parents, despite holding a non-creamy layer certificate, possess substantial property, including 110 acres of agricultural land, six shops totaling 1.6 lakh sq ft, seven flats (one in Hiranandani), 900 grams of gold, diamonds, a gold watch valued at Rs 17 lakh, four cars, and stakes in two private limited companies and one automobile firm. These revelations cast doubt on Khedkar’s eligibility for the OBC non-creamy layer certificate, which grants 27 percent reservation in government jobs like IAS and IPS, along with age and cut-off mark relaxations for the UPSC exam. The family income cap for this certificate is Rs 8 lakh, contrasting sharply with her father’s declared assets of Rs 40 crore.
In a mock interview now viral, Khedkar claimed estrangement from her father due to her parents’ separation. Khedkar also attracted attention for allegedly using a red-blue beacon, VIP plate, and “Government of Maharashtra” sticker on her Audi sedan. Amid the ongoing controversy, Khedkar has been transferred to Washim
