The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made a significant breakthrough in the investigation of the NEET-UG paper leak by apprehending Rakesh Ranjan, also known as Rocky, from the outskirts of Patna. Rocky, a resident of Nalanda and reportedly linked to mastermind Sanjeev Mukhia, was arrested after evading authorities and frequently changing hideouts.
According to sources, the CBI had been tracking Rocky closely since the onset of the crackdown on irregularities in the medical entrance exam. Utilizing technical surveillance, the agency pinpointed his location and conducted an early morning operation leading to his arrest. Subsequently, Rocky was produced before a special court in Patna, which granted the CBI 10 days of custody for further interrogation.
Earlier in the week, the CBI had conducted searches at 15 locations across Bihar and Jharkhand, uncovering crucial evidence related to the case. The investigation has also seen arrests of the principal and vice principal of Hazaribagh’s Oasis school, along with individuals allegedly involved in providing premises for NEET candidates where burnt question papers were recovered.
The CBI has filed six FIRs in connection with the alleged irregularities in NEET-UG, underscoring its commitment to unraveling the full extent of the conspiracy and bringing all culpable parties to justice.
