As per the FBI, the man who attempted to kill Donald Trump is Thomas Matthew Crooks. The FBI said the shooter was from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. Bethel Park town is about 70 km (43 miles) or an hour;s drive from Butler, the site of the attempted assassination.
The statement added, ‘This remains an active and ongoing investigation, an anyone with information that may assist with the investigation and anyone with information that may assist with the investigation is encouraged to submit photos or videos online’.
‘It was surprising that the shooter was able to fire so many rounds. Upon being asked if law enforcement did not know the shooter was on the roof until he began firing’, said the FBI officials.
It added, ‘That is our assessment at this time and it is surprising that the shooter was able to get off as many rounds as were fired’. FBI officials further added, ‘All the details of that will come out later investigation’.
Meanwhile, the assassination attempt occurred during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Trump, the leading Republican presidential candidate, was speaking. A shooter fired several bullets, resulting in the death of one spectator and injuries to two others. The United States Secret Service quickly neutralized the shooter.
