A bus was set on fire and a police car overturned as unrest erupted in the Harehills neighborhood of Leeds, UK, on Thursday in what police described as a “serious disorder incident.” Residents have been urged to stay indoors, and a large number of police officers have been deployed to manage the situation. No injuries have been reported so far.

The chaos began after government agents took children into care on Luxor Street in Harehills, according to The Guardian. Eyewitnesses reported that some community members responded by setting fires and throwing stones.
As the unrest escalated, the agency workers and children were moved “to a safe place,” police told Sky News.
West Yorkshire Police reported that additional “pockets of disorder” emerged while responding to the situation, prompting the deployment of more officers. Videos on social media showed a large crowd on the street, with a police car attacked, its windows shattered, before being overturned. One individual was seen setting fire to the bus while others hurled debris at it.
Several roads were closed to the public, and people were advised to avoid the area until the situation was under control. Visuals showed streets littered with rubbish and other debris.
Police had vacated the scene by 10:30 PM local time, but a helicopter continued to scan Harehills and nearby areas.
