The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made significant progress in the ongoing NEET-UG paper leak investigation. On Saturday, the CBI arrested three individuals linked to the case. Among those arrested is Shashi Kumar Paswan, also known as Paasu, who is accused of being the mastermind behind the leak.
Paswan, who holds a B.Tech degree from the National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur, is alleged to have orchestrated the illegal operation.
In addition to Paswan, the CBI detained two MBBS students who are suspected of acting as ‘solvers’ for the leaked exam papers. Kumar Manglam Bishnoi, a second-year MBBS student from Bharatpur, Rajasthan, and Deependra Kumar, a first-year MBBS student, were both taken into custody. They are accused of using their positions to facilitate the cheating process.
This development follows the recent detention of four MBBS students from AIIMS Patna. These students were believed to have been hired by Sanjeev Mukhiya’s gang, the alleged ringleader of the paper leak scheme, to solve the leaked NEET-UG papers.

The CBI’s investigation has already led to the arrest of Pankaj Kumar, also known as Aditya. Kumar, a civil engineer from the 2017 batch at NIT Jamshedpur, is accused of stealing the NEET-UG exam papers from a trunk belonging to the National Testing Agency (NTA) in Hazaribagh.
The CBI took over the investigation from the Economic Offence Unit (EOU) of the Bihar Police last month. Since then, the agency has filed six FIRs (First Information Reports) related to the case. This case highlights the ongoing efforts to address and prevent fraud in important examinations like the NEET-UG.
