Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced that the government would review all criminal cases registered during the YSR Congress regime. He accused the previous government of vindictive politics and vowed to punish police officers who falsely charged thousands of people.
Naidu blamed the lawlessness of 2019-24 on a police-criminal nexus, claiming that some YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders used their power to settle political scores.
Naidu compared Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the leader of the YSRCP and former Chief Minister, to Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. He accused Jagan of destabilizing the state’s democratic processes and claimed that Jagan’s criminal activities spread widely, just like Escobar’s illegal drug trade.

Naidu highlighted the increase in murders, assaults, and crimes against women during the YSRCP’s rule from 2019 to 2024. He mentioned rampant drug businesses and politically motivated criminal cases against opponents, including himself, his son Lokesh, and Jana Sena Party president K. Pawan Kalyan.
Naidu argued that these issues proved Jagan Mohan Reddy was unfit for politics. He presented a white paper on the state’s law and order situation during this period in the Legislative Assembly on July 25.
Naidu stated that the NDA Government would tackle the drug problem and provide alternative livelihoods for those cultivating ganja. He promised a zero-tolerance policy towards crime.
Naidu brought up the unsolved murder of Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, Jagan’s uncle, and other high-profile crimes allegedly involving YSRCP members. He cited the murder of a driver by YSRCP MLC Ananta Satya Udaya Bhaskar and numerous murders of people from the Backward Classes.
Naidu also mentioned various incidents, such as the alleged attack on Jagan Mohan Reddy during an election campaign and the abuse of judges, to illustrate the violent and sadistic nature of Jagan and his associates.
Naidu described the period from 2019 to 2024 as “State terrorism,” driven by Jagan’s desire for power. He criticized the YSRCP for suppressing police officers who refused to follow government orders. These officers were often sent to ‘vacancy reserve,’ where they were not paid for months, and faced other pressures.
Naidu urged people and representatives not to seek revenge for past injustices, warning that it could cause further trouble for the government. Many members of the Legislative Assembly stood up when Naidu asked who among them had been implicated in cases during the YSRCP rule.
