The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested 36 individuals, including alleged masterminds, “solvers,” and logistics coordinators, in connection with the NEET-UG paper leak. This development follows the CBI’s takeover of the investigation from Bihar Police. The arrests were made following searches at 33 locations nationwide, according to a press release issued on Thursday.
The CBI confirmed that 15 of the arrests were initially made by Bihar Police. Those detained include MBBS students from prestigious colleges, who were identified as “solvers.” These individuals were allegedly brought to Hazaribagh to execute the conspiracy. Pankaj Kumar, also known as Aditya, a 2017-batch civil engineer from the National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur, is considered a key suspect. The CBI claims he accessed the strong room at the Oasis School in Hazaribagh, where the leak occurred.
The investigation revealed that the operation involved a network of individuals responsible for various logistical aspects. Some arranged accommodation for the candidates, while others facilitated their transport. The candidates who accessed the solved question papers are currently being traced, and further actions are being taken.
Key figures among the arrested include Ehsanul Haque, the principal of the Oasis School, and Centre Superintendent Imtiyaz Alam. The “solvers” were reportedly housed at a guest house in Hazaribagh and paid to solve the exam papers, which were then distributed to locations in Hazaribagh and Patna.
