Amid rains in the state, Gujarat’s Navsari district has experienced severe waterlogging, tasking the National Disaster Response Force to evacuate people from the inundated areas of the district.
The NDRF evacuated people who were stuck in the inundated areas of Navsari and the rescue operation is still underway. The team rescued five people, including a child and an ailing woman, from the flood-affected area in Mithila Nagari of Navsari. At least 30 people have been rescued from here.
DR Patel, Probationary Deputy SP, Navsari Town Police, said, “We had received information that around four people are marooned in Mithila Nagri. Together with the NDRF team, we went there to rescue them. One entire floor was submerged there. We rescued them later.”
Amid the deluge like conditions, Navsari Municipality prepared 20,000 food packets for the people who are stuck in the flood-affected areas in the city.
Meenal Desai, Navsari Municipality chief, said, “Since morning, we have been preparing food packets. In the morning, we prepared 20,000 food packets and now also 20,000 food packets are being prepared. These packets will be sent to the flood-affected areas.” In wake of the rainfall situation, District Collector Kshipra S Agre today inspected shelter homes set up for the rain affected people.
