The recent surge in terrorist activities in Jammu & Kashmir signifies a stark escalation in the Union Territory, with highly trained operatives coming together from Pakistan’s SSG and terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) targeting Indian security forces. Allegedly, SSG General Officer Commanding (GOC) Major General Adil Rehmani is orchestrating these attacks, raising serious concerns.
A UK-based Human Rights Activist Dr. Amjad Ayub Mirza has claimed on his official social media handle that an entire SSG battalion, comprising at least 600 commandos, has infiltrated the Kupwara region and other parts of Jammu & Kashmir. These commandos, aided by local jihadi sleeper cells, have managed to move within Indian territory undetected, posing a formidable challenge to Indian forces.
“Local jihadist fighters of the Valley are gearing up to fight on behalf of Pakistan. Pakistan’s Lt. Col. Shahid Salim Janjua has taken charge of the ongoing attack in Jammu. 15 Corps soldiers of the Indian Army are their targets. Two more battalions are planning to enter India through the Jammu-Kashmir border,” he said.
Moreover, Local witnesses have described the attackers’ military precision, with one recounting how a group of 7-8 terrorists encircled a bus and attacked from all sides during the recent Shiv Khori assault, resulting in 10 deaths.
The increasing presence of these highly skilled operatives is evident in the latest attacks. The terrorists’ sophisticated weaponry and strategic acumen underscore the urgency for India to take robust measures.
Intelligence sources reveal that these operatives, recruited from Pakistan’s Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regions, include battle-hardened individuals with experience from Afghanistan.
As these cowardly attacks by Pakistan-backed terrorists have multiplied in the region recently, over 51 security personnel have been martyred and 19 civilians have reportedly lost their lives between 2021 and now, of which in 2024 alone, 11 security forces personnel lost their lives, bringing forth a disturbing trend of rising terrorism and the utter failure of the government.

Following the attacks, Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists disappear into dense forests, ambushing army convoys, looting weapons, and bulletproof jackets, making it difficult for security forces to trace them.
In response, the Indian government has deployed over 2,000 additional Border Security Force (BSF) personnel to the region. This strategic move aims to bolster security and counter the infiltrated SSG commandos and their local allies. Although PM Modi has issued stern warnings to Pakistan, emphasizing that the nation’s attempts to destabilize India through terrorism will not succeed, the terror attacks are a stark reminder for India to not repeat the Kargil-like war situation.
