Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia recently tested India’s 5G phone technology developed by the Center for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) at their campus in New Delhi. He used BSNL’s 5G technology to make a video call to a C-DOT employee, showcasing the readiness and capability of India’s homegrown 5G technology. This successful test is a significant achievement for India’s telecom sector, indicating its potential to compete on a global scale.
During his visit, Scindia toured various departments at the C-DOT facility. He engaged in discussions with numerous scientists and tech experts, highlighting the collaborative efforts and expertise that drive India’s telecom advancements. His interactions underscored the importance of innovation and teamwork in achieving technological progress.
Scindia also chaired a meeting with telecom scientists, where they discussed various new technologies currently under development at C-DOT. The focus of the meeting was on strategies to propel India to the forefront of the global telecom industry.
Scindia emphasized the importance of developing indigenous technology to achieve this goal. He expressed his commitment to making India a leader not only in telecommunications but also in cybersecurity and defense technology.
Sharing his experience on social media, Scindia’s post on X (formerly Twitter) received widespread appreciation from the public. He posted, “Connecting India! Tried @BSNLCorporate’s #5G enabled phone call,” reflecting his enthusiasm and confidence in Indian technology.
Earlier, on July 18, Scindia spoke about India’s active participation in the global development of 6G technology. At the launch of the India Mobile Congress 2024, he highlighted that India is not lagging in technological development. Scindia explained that there are two key aspects to 5G development: providing faster speeds with less latency and advancing the industry as a whole. He compared the technological shift brought by drones to the opportunities presented by 5G.
Scindia noted that 6G technology is still in development worldwide, with no set target for its rollout. He emphasized that while India was behind the curve with 4G, it is on par with 5G and actively participating in the development of 6G. This shift signifies a major change in India’s telecom industry.
The India Mobile Congress is Asia’s largest telecom, media, and technology forum. It showcases India’s advancements and provides a platform for announcements and startups to present innovative products and solutions.
Scindia’s statements and actions reflect India’s commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements and contributing to global innovation.
