Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt congratulations to the Indian contingent as the Paris Olympics 2024 drew to a close, celebrating their efforts and achievements on the world stage. On Sunday, the Prime Minister Modi took to social media to express his pride in the athletes who represented India with distinction at the Games.
In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi lauded the Indian athletes for their dedication and performance throughout the Olympics.
“As the Paris Olympics conclude, I appreciate the efforts of the entire Indian contingent through the games,” PM Modi wrote.

PM Modi emphasized that every Indian takes immense pride in the athletes, who showcased the spirit of the nation. “All the athletes have given their best, and every Indian is proud of them. Wishing our sporting heroes the best for their upcoming endeavours,” the Prime Minister added.
The closing ceremony saw two of India’s sporting icons, shooter Manu Bhaker and hockey goalkeeper PR Sreejesh, carrying the national flag. Bhaker, made history by winning multiple medals in shooting, and Sreejesh, who won second consecutive bronze with the Indian hockey team, were fitting representatives of a contingent that had made significant strides across various sports.
India won a total of six medals including a silver at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal in the men’s javelin throw event, his second Olympic medal in a row. Aman Sehrawat, Sarabjot Singh, and Swapnil Kusale are the other medal winners.
