The SSLV-D3-EOS-08 mission is crucial as it completes the development phase for ISRO’s smallest rocket, which can carry satellites weighing up to 500 kg into Low Earth Orbit (up to 500 km above Earth).
After successfully placing EOS-08 into orbit, ISRO chairman Somanath said, “ISRO successfully launched the EOS-08 satellite, completing the SSLV development.”ISRO launches 3rd SSLV flight with Earth satellite from Sriharikota.
ISRO launched its third SSLV flight, from Sriharikota and the automatic launch sequence is activated after the mission director gave the green light.
ISRO said, ‘The primary objectives of the SSLV-D3-EOS-08 mission include designing and developing a microsatellite, creating payload instruments compatible with the microsatellite bus, and incorporating new technologies required for future operational satellites’.
