The West Bengal Health Department cancelled the appointment of Sandeep Ghosh as the Principal of National Medical College and Hospital, and removed Suhritha Paul from the post of Principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
The West Bengal government issued a motivation and informed about this. According to the media reports, Manas Kumar Bandyopadhyay was appointed as the new Principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

The CBI had questioned Sandeep Ghosh for hours and his appointment was cancelled today. Sandeep Ghosh’s name came in the headlines after the incident of rape and murder of a female doctor working in RG Kar Medical College.
Doctors and students alleged that Sandeep is a highly ‘influential’ person. Many people had feared that he could influence the investigation process. The demand for his resignation was raised from RG Kar itself.
Meanwhile, on August 12, Sandeep announced his resignation in front of the media and also submitted his resignation by going to the Health Bhavan. Sandeep resigned from the post of Principal and Professor of RG Kar Medical College.
However, soon after, the Health Department appointed him as the Principal of National Medical College. There were massive protests over this and after the High Court’s rebuke, he has been sent on long leave.
