On August 20, Police arrested six people for their involvement in an alleged sexual assault at the Pusaur Police Station area in Raigarh.
According to the media reports, the Raigarh police reported that a group of youths allegedly kidnapped the tribal woman and took her near a pond to sexually assault her.
The woman was on her way to attend a festival in Raogarh when the incident took place. The police further added, ‘The woman had left her village to go to a festival in Raigarh when a group of men frecefully kidnapped her and sexually assaulted her’.
Divyang Patel, Raigarh Superintendent of Police said, ‘As soon as we were informed we started probing the matter’. Patel further added, ‘As soon as we were informed of the incident we registered a case, formed an investigating team ti investigate the matter and we have arrested the six accused’.
The police confirmed that a medical examination of the woman was conducted as per protocol and that the woman’s situation is stable now.
