More than 40 people have been confirmed dead in the accident in which a bus from Gorakhpur, carrying Indian tourists from Pokhara to Kathmandu, fell into the Marsyangdi river in Nepal.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s office has informed that the bodies of 24 people killed in the accident will be brought back to Maharashtra on Saturday.
Maharashtra Minister Girish Mahajan has said that ’41 people have died after a bus fell into a river in Nepal. The Nepal Army took some people to the hospital. He has said that we do not have the exact figure. We are in constant touch’.
It has been told that a bus full of passengers was returning from Pokhara to Kathmandu on Friday. The bus overturned on the river from the highway at Aina Pahara in Tanahun district. 16 people died on the spot, while 11 died during treatment.
Now the death toll has reached above 40. Other injured were brought to Kathmandu by air and admitted to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. Many of the casualties in this accident are said to be from Bhusal village in Jalgaon district of Maharashtra.
The office of Maharashtra Chief Minister Shinde has said that 24 bodies will be brought to Maharashtra on Saturday by an Indian Air Force plane. He said that the Indian Air Force plane could be arranged due to the intervention of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
