Many important decisions were taken in the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. In this, 12 new project proposals have been approved under the National Industrial Corridor Development Program (NICDP). Under this, 12 industrial smart cities will be built in the country.
An investment of Rs 28,602 crore is estimated on this scheme. This scheme will create 10 lakh jobs directly and 30 lakh jobs indirectly. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav told in a press conference that apart from this, many other important decisions were taken in the cabinet.
In this, approval was given to start private FM radio in 234 new cities. Along with this, three projects of the Ministry of Railways were also approved, whose total estimated cost is about Rs. 6,456 crore. Expansion in the Central Sector Scheme of Financing Facility under ‘Agriculture Infrastructure Fund’ (AIF) has been approved.
The objective of approving the expansion of the Central Sector Scheme of AIF is to make it more attractive, effective and inclusive. Ashwini Vaishnav said that spread across 10 states and strategically planned along 6 major corridors, these projects represent a significant leap towards enhancing India’s manufacturing capabilities and economic growth.
These industrial areas will be located in Khurpiya in Uttarakhand, Rajpura-Patiala in Punjab, Dighi in Maharashtra, Palakkad in Kerala, Agra and Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, Gaya in Bihar, Zaheerabad in Telangana, Orvakal and Kopparthi in Andhra Pradesh, Jodhpur-Pali in Rajasthan.
Two new lines and a multi-tracking project of Indian Railways were approved. Its estimated cost is Rs 6,456 crore. These three projects covering seven districts of Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh will increase the existing network of Indian Railways by about 300 km. These projects will provide connectivity, make travel easier, reduce logistics costs, reduce oil imports and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, while briefing the media about the decisions of the Union Cabinet in New Delhi, said that the new line proposal will provide direct connectivity and improve mobility, thereby increasing efficiency and service reliability for Indian Railways. The multi-tracking proposal will ease operations and reduce congestion, leading to much-needed infrastructure development on the busiest sections of Indian Railways.
