On Thursday the Delhi High Court extended the stay on the arrest of dismissed trainee IAS officer Puja Khedkar till September 5 in connection with in fake identity cases.
For the unversed, the former IAS trainee officer was disqualified from the Civil Service for alleged misconduct and submitting forged documents.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police has sought more time to file a fresh status report in the case, and the court has adjourned the matter until September 5.
The updated status report will be submitted by the standing counsel of Delhi Police. In the last hearing on August 21, the Delhi Police had opposed Puja’s anticipatory bail plea, saying there were serious allegations of cheating and fraud against her. The case pertains to alleged misuse of reserved categories in civil services.
The Delhi High Court had granted protection from arrest to Khedkar on August 12. However, previously the controversy surrounding the Khedkar family took a new turn, with the Pune city police registering a case against Dilip Khedkar, the father of former IAS trainee Puja Khedkar. The case accuses him of interfering with the duties of a public servant.
The First Information Report (FIR) was filed at Bundgarden Police Station under sections 186, 504, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). These sections cover offenses such as obstructing a public servant from performing their duties, insulting them to provoke a breach of the peace, and criminal intimidation. The FIR was based on a complaint by Tehsildar Deepak Akade, a government official.
