Umesh Upadhyay ji, a prominent figure of Indian media and a member of the RSS’s Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Toli, has unexpectedly passed away. He suffered a fatal injury in a construction accident at his Vasant Kunj residence and was pronounced dead at the hospital. His sudden death has deeply affected the journalism community and the Sangh Parivar, marking a significant loss.

Upadhyaya, born in 1958 in Mathura, has been a prominent figure in Indian journalism since the early 1980s. With a distinguished career spanning over forty years, he has worked across print, radio, TV, and digital media, contributing to major organizations such as Press Trust of India, All India Radio, DD News, Network18, and Zee News. His latest book, Western Media Narratives on India – From Gandhi to Modi, highlights his extensive knowledge of Indian media and international affairs.

With a long-standing affiliation with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Umesh ji significantly contributed to its publicity efforts. He recognized the value of electronic media early on, leading to its adoption alongside traditional print media. His nationwide training sessions in electronic media helped diversify the department’s activities, including radio, short films, and column writing. Umesh ji was well-regarded for his writing, intellectual contributions, and innovative mindset.

Umesh Upadhyay Ji, the director of Ritam Digital Media Foundation, played a crucial role in the development of the Ritam APP from its inception. His valuable suggestions and relentless efforts were instrumental in expanding the app’s reach. The Ritam family extends their heartfelt tribute to him.
