As the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations are going on in the country, on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the Ganpati Puja at Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud’s residence in New Delhi. Video of PM Modi visiting CJI’s residence is going viral on the social media. CJI Chandrachud and his wife Kalpana Das were seen welcoming Modi at their house in the video.
The Prime Minister can be seen performing puja at CJI’s residence in the video and reportedly the prime minister was wearing the traditional Maharashtrian cap in the celebrations at the CJI’s residence. Earlier, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP head Ajit Pawar visited Varsha, the official residence of CM Eknath Shinde to offer prayers to Lord Ganesh. A statement said, ‘Pawar was accompanied by his party colleague Praful Patel’.

The visit assumes importance as it comes in the ruling Mahayuti alliance, comprising Pawar’s NCP, Shinde’s Shiv Sena and the BJP, ahead of the Maharashtra polls, which will likely be held in October-November. Shiv Sena minister Tanaji Sawant had recently created controversy by saying that he sits next to NCP leaders at cabinet meetings but feels like vomiting after coming out. Sena ministers were also upset at the NCP for omitting Shinde’s name from advertisements and promotional material of the ‘Ladki Bahin Yojana’ during its ‘Jan Sanman Yatra’.
Reportedly, Union Home Minister Amit Shah met Mahayuti leaders during his visit to Mumbai on Sunday. Meanwhile, BJP MP Sambit Patra attack at the Congress over Rahul Gandhi meeting US Congresswoman, Ilhan Omar, and said, ‘If the Prime Minister is meeting the CJI, you have a problem, but if you are meeting anti-national people in the US, then there is no problem’.
He asked, ‘I think they have a problem with the Ganpati Puja and during their tenure, Manmohan Ji organised an Iftar party, but was the CJI not invited? That is also a festival and this Ganpati is also a festival, then why this difference’? Milind Deora, now a Rajya Sabha member from the Shiv Sena, said, ‘It’s unfortunate to see commentary on the Prime Minister’s visit to the Chief Justice of India’s (CJI) residence for Ganapati Aarti. Deora said, ‘The opposition praises the Supreme Court’s credibility when verdicts favour them, but when things don’t go their way, they claim the judiciary is compromised’.
