Rising Violence During Hindu Festivals: Urgent Need to Protect Hindu Rights and Traditions

The series of violent incidents during Hindu festivals, particularly Ganesh Chaturthi and Durga Puja, highlights a disturbing trend of religious intolerance. In the most recent incident in North Tripura on 6th October, violent clashes broke out after a Muslim mob attacked Hindu houses over a confrontation regarding Durga Puja subscriptions (chanda). The mob vandalized homes and a beauty parlour, injuring women and children, and creating fear and tension in the Kadamtala area.
