The work of demolishing the illegal part of the disputed mosque of Sanjauli is going on. On the orders of the Municipal Corporation Commissioner Court, the mosque committee is engaged in the work of demolishing the illegal part. Three-four laborers have been employed for this.
On the third day of the demolition work, the laborers removed the tin roof built on the attic i.e. the top floor of the mosque. It took more than two days for the laborers to remove it. Now the work of removing iron angles from the attic of the mosque remains. After this, the work of demolishing two illegal floors will start.
More laborers will be needed for this, because the mosque is built in a residential area and JCB cannot be used during demolition work. The work of demolishing the illegal part of Sanjauli mosque may hang in the balance. Lack of funds is coming in the way of demolition work. Actually, due to lack of funds, this work is not being done at a fast pace. So far only the sheets of the roof of the upper part have been removed. The demolition work has not started yet.
This disputed mosque is built in a residential area and there are many buildings around it. A large number of workers are required to demolish the illegal three floors and the court has directed the mosque committee to ensure the safety of the surrounding buildings during the demolition work. The problem in the demolition work is that the mosque committee lacks funds for it.
The mosque committee says that the demolition work will cost lakhs and they do not have that much funds right now. Sanjauli mosque committee chief Latif Mohammad said that demolishing the illegal part will cost a lot and funds are being arranged for it. The mosque committee is arranging funds at its own level. We have not received funds from the state government or any other institution for this work.
He also said that the fund has not been managed yet and a lot of funds are needed to do the work, in such a situation it may take three to four months to demolish the illegal part and the court will be requested to give additional time in the next hearing. Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister of the state government Aniruddh Singh said on the lack of funds available with the Masjid Committee to demolish the illegal portion that till now the Masjid Committee has not come to meet him on this issue.
