Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand was in the headlines throughout the day on Thursday for the removal of the mosque. The markets were also closed in protest against the mosque. The atmosphere was calm till morning, but in the afternoon when the people of the Hindu organization were taking out a public outrage rally, there was a ruckus.

There was lathi charge and stone pelting and the police fired tear gas shells. Many people of the Hindu organization, including Swami Darshan Bharti, founder of Devbhoomi Raksha Abhiyan, were injured in stone pelting and lathi charge. All of them are being treated in the district hospital. The police-administration is engaged in the security of the mosque against which the United Sanatan Dharma Rakshak Sangh, Hindu organizations and local people are taking out a public outrage rally and illegal activities.

Hindu organizations were taking out a public outrage rally on Thursday afternoon demanding the removal of the mosque from the district headquarters. The public outrage rally of Hindu organizations wanted to march towards the mosque, but the police had barricaded to stop the protesters. There was a lot of argument about removing the barricading, but the police force was deployed in large numbers.

The protesters sat on a dharna on the Gangotri highway. When the protesters tried to remove the barricades after 4:30 pm, there was a scuffle and the police lathicharged the protesters. Due to this, some women and protesters got injured and the atmosphere deteriorated completely. At the same time, stones were thrown at the crowd from the foothills of Varunavat mountain.

The police also fired a tear gas shell, but the protesters crossed the barricades and reached the collectorate premises and raised slogans. Meanwhile, Hindu organizations alleged that these stones were thrown as part of a conspiracy.

A total of 27 people, including 18 Hindu men, two women and seven policemen, were injured in stone pelting and lathi charge during the Jan Akrosh Maharally. In this, Gopesh Mishra (17), a resident of Chinyalisaur, suffered a fracture in his leg, who has been referred to Dehradun for treatment. On the call of Hindu organizations demanding the removal of the mosque, the entire market remained closed in Uttarkashi, Bhatwadi, Dunda tehsil. This caused great inconvenience to people, especially pilgrims.
