On Monday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nishikant Dubey accused the Hemant Soren government of promoting Bangladeshi intrusion in Jharkhand for vote bank politics. He warned that tribals would cease to exist. Dubey said, ‘There is Bangladeshi intrusion everywhere and Hemant Soren Government is promoting it out of vote bank politics. If we don’t wake up now, tribals would cease to exist’.
Yesterday, BJP Jharkhand co-in-charge and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hit out at Soren’s party the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, accusing them of supporting infiltrators in the state and calling for the cancellation of registrations of parties who support them.
He said yesterday, ‘The opposition has filed a complaint against me for speaking against infiltrators. This means JMM is speaking in favour of them. Whichever political party supports infiltrators and speaks against those opposing infiltration, their registration should be cancelled’.
In another big development, Mandal Murmu, the proposer who signed on Hemant Soren’s nomination for the Barhait Assembly constituency, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party yesterday. After joining the party Mandal Murmu said that he would take initiative regarding the demographic in Santhal Pargana.
The Jharkhand Assembly elections will be held in two phases on November 13 and 20, with vote counting scheduled for November 23. A total of 2.6 crore voters are eligible to participate, including 1.31 crore male and 1.29 crore female voters, as well as 11.84 lakh first-time voters and 66.84 lakh young voters.
In the 2020 Assembly election in Jharkhand, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) won 30 seats, BJP won 25 seats and Congress won 16. In 2014, BJP won 37 seats, JMM won 19 seats and Congress only won 6 seats.
