A CID inquiry was set up in a case related to the irregularity in serving snacks brought for Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu during an event. Samosas were mistakenly served to his security staff instead of the Chief Minister, which was investigated by the CID.
The report cited lack of coordination as the reason for this irregularity. The BJP has taunted the state government over this entire incident and said that it is concerned about the CM’s snacks instead of the development work of the state. According to the case, this incident took place when the Chief Minister had arrived to attend a program organized at the CID headquarters Shimla on October 21.
Three boxes of samosas and cake were ordered from a restaurant located in Lakkar Bazaar of the city for the Chief Minister’s visit. But, these snacks were served to his security team instead of the CM. A Deputy SP rank officer of the CID investigated this irregularity. According to the investigation report, an IG rank officer directed a sub-inspector (SI) to buy snacks for the CM. The SI then assigned an assistant SI (ASI) and a head constable to bring snacks from the hotel.
They brought the snacks in three sealed boxes and informed the SI about it. The police personnel who brought the boxes told the investigating officer that he consulted the tourism department staff on duty about whether these snacks were for the Chief Minister. But he was told that these items were not part of the menu prepared for him, which further increased the confusion.
The investigation revealed that only the SI knew that these boxes were specifically for the Chief Minister. When these were handed over to the woman inspector, she did not confirm with any senior officer and sent them to the Mechanical Transport (MT) section responsible for the snacks. The report said that this lack of coordination was an important reason for this mistake.
Meanwhile, when Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu was asked by the media on Friday about this controversy, instead of answering the question, he thanked and avoided the question. On the other hand, after this matter, the opposition party BJP has seen sharp attitude. BJP has targeted the government on this incident. BJP MLA and media department in-charge Randhir Sharma said that the people of Himachal Pradesh are troubled and the funny thing is that the government is worried about the Chief Minister’s samosa. It seems that the government is not concerned about any developmental work, it is only concerned about food.
