On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked the Opposition over who will be the Chief Ministerial face of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), stating that there is infighting as to “who will sit on the driver’s seat.” Highlighting the five years of political upheaval which observed many governments and alliances in Maharashtra, PM Modi said, “When people like MVA form government, they cause hindrances in every government policy and development. You have lived through the 2.5 years of MVA government”.

PM Modi started off his campaign for the BJP in Maharashtra with a rally in Dhule. This week, he is scheduled to hold eight more rallies across the state. Following the Dhule event, PM Modi will address supporters at a rally in Nashik at 2 pm. PM Modi exuded confidence in the governance of the Mahayuti government, stating that only the BJP-led alliance “can provide the good governance needed in the state.”

During the rally, the Prime Minister accused the Congress of trying to divide India’s tribal communities. He said, “Congress agenda is to create a rift between all the tribal communities of the country”. He linked Congress’s actions to the partition, stating, “When Congress tried this conspiracy with religious groups, it led to the partition of the country.”

He warned that Congress is now attempting to pit Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes against one another, terming it the biggest conspiracy in India. He urged unity, stating, “You will stay strong as long as you stay united. ‘Ek hai toh safe hai.'” PM Modi said referring to the chaos at Jammu & Kashmir Assembly, “As soon as the Congress and INDIA alliance got the chance to form a government in J&K, they started their conspiracies against Kashmir. Two days ago, they passed a resolution in the J&K legislative assembly to restore Article 370.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi says “Balasaheb Thackeray’s contribution to the politics of the country and Maharashtra is incomparable. But not a single word comes out from the mouth of Congress leaders in praise of Balasaheb Thackeray. I challenge my Congress friends in the Mahagathbandhan, they should get the Congress leaders to praise Bala Saheb Thackeray and his ideology…Today is 8th November, I will count the number of days and wait for a reply from MVA people”.

Notably, Maharashtra will vote in a single phase on November 20. Counting of votes will take place three days later.
