Twenty one people were killed and over 46 injured in a massive bomb blast at Quetta railway station in Pakistan on Saturday morning. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital and the death toll is expected to rise. Police and rescue teams have reached the spot and the bomb disposal squad has been called to the spot.
The accident is being investigated. According to the media reports, at the time of the blast, a train was ready to depart from the platform for Peshawar. The report quoted Quetta Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mohammad Baloch as saying that 21 people have died and 46 were injured in the blast. He said that initially the incident seems to be a suicide bomb blast but it would be too early to say anything for sure.
The whole matter is being investigated. At present, no organization has taken responsibility for the attack. There was a huge crowd of passengers at the station at the time of the blast. The blast occurred when the Jaffar Express was leaving the station. There was chaos at the railway station after the blast.
According to eyewitnesses, it was a heavy bomb blast. It is worth mentioning that bomb blasts have been happening frequently in this part of Pakistan. A few days ago, four security personnel were killed and many were injured in a bomb blast in North Waziristan. Apart from this, there was a bomb blast near a school in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in which two children were killed. A few days before this, there was a bomb blast near a school in Balochistan in which seven people including five school children were killed while at least 22 people were injured.
