Prasanna Kumar DP, a young student at Swaroopa Adyayana Kendra, Mangaluru, set a record by writing all 700 shlokas of the Bhagavad Gita in a pictorial language developed by the centre. The 12-year-old crafted 84,426 intricate pictures to represent each word, a feat that earned him recognition in the India Book of Records (IBR).

Prasanna Kumar, son of Pampapathi and Nandini from Holehonnur, Shivamogga district, set the IBR Achiever record by creating the Bhagavad Gita through illustrations. After studying up to Class VI at the Rashtrothana Vidhyalaya in Shivamogga, Kumar joined the Swaroopa Adyayana Kendra in the coastal city a year ago.

The Bhagavad Gita, composed of 700 verses, was illustrated in 1,400 lines, with 84,426 illustrations on a hardboard sheet. The young boy worked tirelessly, day and night, for two-and-a-half months to complete this illustrated Bhagavad Gita.

Kendra founder Gopadkar said that kumar received the IBR Achiever record in August. He said, “The pictorial language that our centre developed can be used to memorise any subject. Notes for any subject can be easily memorized by students using the pictorial language. Many of the students in our centre created records by using the learning methods of the centre’.

Gopadkar says that through his institute is not an art school, it is important for everyone to become an artist. He said, ‘Through the learning methods at Swaroopa, students achieve at least 10 records, gaining artistic skills and scoring well in the SSLC exams. We provide excellent education to help them learn the 10th-grade curriculum. Each student develops at least 10 talents. Kumar intricately illustrated the Bhagavad Gita’.

Speaking about his achievement, Kumar said the successful attempt increased his concentration. “The Adyayana Kendra greatly encouraged me. They provided me with the strength to learn, which boosted my concentration and self-confidence. I am ready to set another world record. The Bhagavad Gita is in Sanskrit, and it was translated into English. In our Swaroopa style, each English letter has a unique symbol. I have documented my achievement to enter the Guinness World Records’.
