On November 18, 1727, Sawai Jai Singh II founded Jaipur, naming it after himself and moving his capital from Amer. Designed by architect Vidyadhar Bhattacharya, the city was planned based on Vastu Shastra principles, divided into nine sections for markets, residences, and cultural centers. Painted pink, Jaipur is famously known as the “Pink City”.
