RSS chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat stated that exercising the right to vote in a democracy is our national duty. Bhagwat said, ‘For the strengthening of democracy, it is necessary for everyone to exercise their right to vote’.
After casting his vote in Nagpur, he appealed to all the voters to vote. Notably, voting is being held on Wednesday for 288 seats of Maharashtra Assembly. RSS chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat voted in the Central Nagpur assembly constituency in the morning. There is a direct contest between BJP’s Praveen Datke and Congress’ Bunty Shelke on this seat.
The RSS chief was on a tour of Uttaranchal. Due to the elections, the RSS chief reached Nagpur on Tuesday night, a day before his scheduled program. This morning, he cast his vote at the local Bhauji Daptari Pathshala polling station. Along with the RSS chief, former general secretary and member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s national executive Suresh alias Bhaiyyaji Joshi, All India Publicity Chief Sunil Ambekar, All India Contact Chief Sunil Deshpande and other prominent officials of the Sangh also voted.
Maharashtra recorded 18.14% voter turnout till 11 am. The elections in Maharashtra will witness a contest between two main alliances namely Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). The Mahayuti alliance, comprises the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction), while the MVA consists of Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP-SP. While the Mahayuti alliance is hoping to overcome anti-incumbency sentiments and retain power, the MVA is aiming to replace its previous success in the Lok Sabha elections by defeating the grand alliance.
