On Friday, President Draupadi Murmu said that programs like Lok Manthan will strengthen the culture and traditions of the country as this is a great program in this direction. Murmu said, “India’s cultural heritage has been very rich. The culture and traditions of the country reflect unity in diversity”.
At the inaugural ceremony of the International Conference and Cultural Festival ‘Lok Manthan-2024’ organized at Shilpakala Vedika in Hyderabad, the President said that she felt proud to participate in the inaugural ceremony of this program. Murmu said that she had participated in the Lok Manthan organized in Ranchi in the year 2018 and once again got the opportunity to participate in Lok Manthan.
She said, “This is our strength, this is our stability. It is really very beautiful to have so many different cultures in one place. Our country is like a beautiful rainbow with all these things. We should not forget that we are all Indians, whether we are villagers or city dwellers”. President Murmu expressed happiness on knowing that presentations related to the personality and deeds of brave women like Ahilyabai Holkar, Rani Rudramma Devi and Rani Lakshmibai will also be given in Lok Manthan.
She said that it is commendable that Indian culture and traditions are being followed abroad. Murmu heartily appreciates the representatives of various countries including Indonesia who are showcasing their culture through this platform. “India’s spiritual concepts, art, music, education and medical practices have earned respect all over the world. It is said that we have given knowledge to the world. In the present times, there is a need to spread India’s knowledge all over the world again”, said Murmu.
She further said, “Foreign powers have oppressed us for centuries. They have destroyed our culture, language, traditions and customs. They have worked to harm our unity. It is said that the roots of slavery have been created in us but our countrymen have kept the culture and traditions alive”. Murmu added, ‘These need to be continued. India is trying to remove the roots of slavery. Rajpath has been renamed as Kartavya Path. Durbar Hall has been renamed as Gantantra Mandap. This is an effort towards removing the ideas of slavery”.
The President said that our thinking should also change, only then we can achieve our goals. Unity and goodwill is our civilization, our future. Let us all work together in this direction. President Murmu reached Begumpet Airport directly and left for Delhi by a special plane after the inauguration program. The theme of the Lokmanthan program running from 21 to 24 November is ‘Lok Observation, Lok Vichar, Lok Vyavahar and Lok Vyavastha’.
Lokmanthan is a national seminar of nationalist thinkers and activists. Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy is the chairman of the welcome committee of Lokmanthan and it is being organized by Pragya Pravah whose convener is J. Nandkumar.
