The first day of the mega auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has ended in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. There was a huge rain of money on Indian players on Sunday. A total of 84 players were bid on Sunday, out of which Rs 467.95 crore was spent for 72 players, while no one bought 12 players.
The unsold players mainly included veteran players like Devdutt Padikkal, Jonny Bairstow and David Warner, who did not find any buyer. Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer were bid on in the auction process and both the players were sold at record prices. Earlier, Shreyas was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 26.75 crore. Shreyas became the most expensive player in IPL history till then. However, shortly after, Rishabh Pant entered the auction and was bought by Lucknow Supergiants for Rs 27 crore. Pant thus became the highest-priced player sold in the IPL auction. Pant and Shreyas surpassed Mitchell Starc’s (25 crores) record made last year in this matter.
Apart from Pant and Shreyas, Venkatesh Iyer also got a big bid on the first day, who was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rs 23.75 crore. At the same time, big bids were also made on Indian fast bowlers Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal and KL Rahul. While Arshdeep and Chahal were bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 18 crore. Rahul was included in the team by Delhi for Rs 14 crore.
Meanwhile, the franchise also showered a lot of money on uncapped players like Nehal Wadhera, Suyash Sharma and Abdul Samad and these players became millionaires. Capped batsman: -Harry Brook’s base price is Rs 2 crore. Delhi Capitals bought Harry Brook for Rs 6.25 crore. -Aiden Markram was bought by Lucknow at his base price of Rs 2 crore. -Devon Conway was bought by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 6.25 crore. His base price was Rs 2 crore. -Rahul Tripathi’s base price was Rs 75 lakh, CSK bought him for Rs 3.40 crore. -Punjab bid Rs 5.50 crore for Jack Fraser McGurk, but Delhi used RTM for him. McGurk’s base price was Rs 2 crore.
Capped all-rounders: -Harshal Patel’s base price was Rs 2 crore, Hyderabad bought him for Rs 8 crore. -Rachin Ravindra joined CSK for Rs 4 crore. -Ravichandran Ashwin was bought by CSK for Rs 9.75 crore. -Venkatesh Iyer was bought by KKR for Rs 23.75 crore. Venkatesh’s base price was Rs 2 crore. -Marcus Stoinis was added to the team by Punjab Kings for Rs 11 crore -Lucknow bid Rs 3.40 crore for Mitchell Marsh. -Glenn Maxwell was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 4.20 crore.
Capped wicketkeeper batsman: -Quinton de Kock’s base price was Rs 2 crore, KKR bought him for Rs 3.60 crore. -Phil Salt was bought by RCB for Rs 11.50 crore. -KKR bought Rahmanullah Gurbaz for his base price of Rs 2 crore. -Sunrisers Hyderabad bought Ishan Kishan for Rs 11.25 crore. Ishan’s base price was Rs 2 crore. -RCB added Jitesh Sharma to the team for Rs 11 crore. Jitesh’s base price was Rs 1 crore.
Capped fast bowlers: -RCB bought Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood for Rs 12.50 crore. -Gujarat Titans bought Prasidh Krishna for Rs 9.50 crore. -Avesh Khan was included in the team of Lucknow Supergiants for Rs 9.75 crore. -KKR bought South African fast bowler Anrich Norkia for Rs 6.50 crore. -Rajasthan Royals included Jofra Archer in the team by spending Rs 12.50 crore. -CSK won by bidding Rs 4.80 crore for Khalil Ahmed. -T. Natarajan, who came with a base price of Rs 2 crore, was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 10.75 crore. -Mumbai Indians bought Trent Boult for Rs 12.50 crore.
Capped spinners: -Rajasthan Royals bought Mahesh Teekshna for Rs 4.40 crore. -Hyderabad bought Rahul Chahar for Rs 3.20 crore and Australian spinner Adam Zampa for Rs 2.40 crore. -Rajasthan Royals bought Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga for Rs 5.25 crore. -Chennai had to spend Rs 10 crore for Noor Ahmed.
Uncapped batsmen: -Aarthav Tayade was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad at a base price of Rs 30 lakh. -Punjab Kings bought Nehal Wadhera for Rs 4.20 crore. -KKR bought Angkrish Raghuvanshi for Rs 3 crore. -Karun Nair, who had a base price of Rs 30 lakh, was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 50 lakh. -Hyderabad bought Abhinav Manohar for Rs 3.20 crore.
Uncapped all-rounders: -Nishant Sindhu was bought by Gujarat Titans for his base price of Rs 30 lakh. -Delhi Capitals bought Sameer Rizvi for Rs 95 lakh. -Mumbai bought Naman Dheer for Rs 5.25 crore under RTM. -Abdul Samad was included in Lucknow’s team for Rs 4.20 crore. -Harpreet Brar was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 1.50 crore. -Chennai Super Kings added Vijay Shankar to the team for Rs 1.20 crore. -Mahipal Lomror was taken by Gujarat Titans for Rs 1.70 crore. -Ashutosh Sharma was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 3.80 crore.
