The Mahakumbh Mela District encompasses the revenue villages and parade areas described in Annexure-I of the official notification. The Mela Adhikari (Fair Officer) will hold the powers of a District Magistrate, Executive Magistrate, and Additional District Magistrate as per Section 14(1) of the Indian Civil Defense Code, 2023. The officer will also have powers equivalent to that of a Collector under the Uttar Pradesh Revenue Code, 2006, amended by the UP Revenue Code (Amendment) Act, 2016. The administration will appoint an Additional Collector to assist in governance during the fair.
These changes aim to ensure better coordination among various departments, facilitate quick decision-making, and enhance resource allocation during the event. The Uttar Pradesh government plans to promote Mahakumbh Mela 2025 extensively, with ministers personally inviting governors and chief ministers across India. Additionally, roadshows and events will be held both domestically and internationally to attract global devotees.
The state cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, envisions this Mahakumbh as a record-breaking event in terms of participation. “Our goal is to showcase the grandeur of India of Indian culture and spirituality to the world. The Maha Kumbh Mela occurs every 12 years, and is the largest congregation of faith in the world. Devotees gather at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers in Prayagraj to take a holy dip believed to cleanse sins and lead to salvation.
