On Thursday, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis takes oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for the third time, following Mahayuti’s landslide victory in the Assembly Elections 2024. Mahayuti, the Bharatiya Janata Party-led alliance, includes Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar-led NCP. The swearing-in ceremony, which started at 5:30 pm, was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a host of religious and political leaders.
Of the 288 seats, Mahayuti secured 230 seats – with BJP winning 132, Shiv Sena in 57 and NCP in 41 seats. Meanwhile, Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar takes oath as Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister respectively. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde following he took the oath as Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra at the swearing-in ceremony held at Azad Maidan in Mumbai.
Shinde’s oath as Deputy CM comes following his pivotal role in the political realignment in the state, which led to the formation of the Mahayuti alliance. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Devendra Fadnavis after he took the oath as Chief Minister of Maharashtra for the third time at a grand ceremony in Mumbai.
Following the oath-taking, Fadnavis met with Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan and Prime Minister Modi to express gratitude for their support. The event, held at Azad Maidan, was attended by several prominent political figures, including Union Ministers, CMs, and Deputy CMs from NDA-ruled states. The ceremony marked the beginning of a new phase for the Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra.
