India’s journey toward self-reliance in defense production has reached a new pinnacle, exemplifying the country’s unwavering resolve to fortify its military capabilities and establish itself as a global leader in defense innovation. Under the visionary leadership of the Modi government, the ‘Make in India’ initiative has turned into a powerful force, championing indigenous production and reducing dependence on imports. This effort has now borne remarkable fruit with two major projects approved by the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS): the production of 12 Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter jets for the Indian Air Force and 100 K-9 Vajra howitzers for the Indian Army. Together, these projects represent a massive investment of approximately ₹20,000 crore.
