Delhi, 25 December (H.S.) : The Met Department has issued a yellow alert for today in Delhi and its neighbouring areas, as thick fog has lowered visibility and affected flights at the Delhi airport.
The air quality index has also been recorded at 334, falling in the ‘very poor’ category. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be 22 degrees Celsius and 9 degrees Celsius, respectively. Safdarjung, Delhi’s official weather station, recorded a maximum temperature of 8.4 degrees Celsius while Palam was at 9.6 degrees Celsius.
The airport has alerted passengers to contact their airlines for updated flight information as low visibility procedures are in progress due to the dense fog. The Air Quality Index had improved marginally on Tuesday evening with the lifting of GRAP-IV curbs but remains in the ‘very poor’ category. Out of the 37 monitoring stations, two have recorded air quality in the ‘severe’ category.
