Robin Uthappa’s 2024 is ending on a happy note as the Karnataka High Court temporarily stayed an arrest warrant against him. The warrant was issued against the former India cricketer and the winner of the T20 World Cup in connection with an alleged case of Provident Fund.held
Cricket fans were left in a state of shock following the former cricketer’s name popped up in an alleged Provident Fund fraud. Uthappa was a key member of MS Dhoni’s Team India that won the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup, back in 2007. PF Regional Commissioner Shadakshari Gopal Reddy had issued the warrant against Uthappa and had also asked the Pulakeshinagar police to take required action against the former Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders cricketer.
The former cricketer had been given time till December 27, 2024 to clear his dues which amounted to ₹ 24 lakh. Uthappa now works an official broadcaster. Robin Uthappa was quick to respond to all the claims and shared a social media post which explained his position in the company. ‘In light of recent news of the PF case against me, I would like to provide some clarification with regards to my involvement with Strawberry Lencería Pvt. Ltd., Centaurus Lifestyle Brands Pvt. Ltd., and Berryz Fashion House.
In 2018-19, I was appointed as a director in these companies due to my financial contributions to them in the form of loans. However, I did not have an active executive role, nor was I involved in the day-to-day operations of the businesses. These companies failed to repay the funds I lent them, leading me to initiate legal proceedings, which are currently sub judice’, wrote Uthappa.
