Ahmedabad, 4 January (H.S.): 20 passengers were injured in separate bus accidents in Gujarat on Saturday morning, while 40 people were saved safely. The first accident happened near Dwarka, where the bus overturned. The second accident happened near Prantij toll naka in Sabarkantha district, where the bus caught fire after a tyre burst. However, all the passengers on the bus came out safely. While the luggage of the passengers was burnt to ashes along with the bus.
According to sources, a group of passengers from Baherampura area of Ahmedabad had set out for a trip in a private luxury bus. Today morning at 9:30, a group of passengers in a bus was going towards Porbandar after visiting Dwarka. Then, near the CNG pump near Kuranga crossroads, about 15 km from Dwarka, the bus driver lost control of the steering and the bus overturned on one side of the road. In this accident, 15 to 20 passengers travelling in the bus were injured. All the injured were admitted to Dwarka Hospital by 108 emergency ambulance. 4 to 5 seriously injured people were referred to Jamnagar Hospital. Fortunately, there was no loss of life in this accident.
Similarly, around 6:30 am on Saturday, a private luxury bus going from Surat to Udaipur caught fire after a tyre burst near Katpur toll naka in Prantij tehsil of Banaskantha district. However, all the passengers in the bus including the driver became alert after hearing the sound before the fire broke out and got out. Meanwhile, the entire bus and the luggage of the passengers also got burnt in the fire. On receiving information about the incident, the team of Himmatnagar Fire Brigade reached the spot and the fire was brought under control after about one and a half hours of effort.
According to Surekha, PSO of Prantij police station, 40 people from Adajan area of Surat were travelling in the bus which caught fire. These included 15 women, 20 men, three girls and two boys. All were going by bus to Udaipur, Rajasthan to attend a marriage function.
