Kolkata, 6 January (H.S.): Around 60 flights were delayed at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (NSCBIA) on Monday due to poor visibility caused by dense fog, an airport official confirmed.
Low Visibility Procedures (LVP) were implemented from 7 am, suspending all air traffic movements between 7:10 am and 9 am, according to Airport Director Pravat Ranjan Beuria. Approximately 30 arrivals and 30 departures were affected, causing significant inconvenience to passengers.
Additionally, five incoming flights scheduled to land in Kolkata were diverted to other airports. The airport authorities, however, claimed that all necessary arrangements were made to assist stranded passengers at the terminal.
Visibility began to improve post 9 am, and the first flight to land was Emirates EK 570, arriving from Dubai at 9:04 am, Beuria stated.
