New Delhi, 14 January (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be embarking on an important mission today as he participates in the ceremony organized for the 150th Foundation Day of India Meteorological Department (IMD) at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi.
At around 10:30 am, the Prime Minister will address the audience and launch the ‘Mission Weather’ with the aim of making the country ‘ready for weather and smart towards climate’. This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to develop advanced weather monitoring techniques, state-of-the-art atmospheric observation systems, and next-generation radar and satellite technology.
By focusing on improving the understanding of weather and climate processes, providing air quality data, and implementing long-term interventions, the mission aims to achieve high-level capacity in weather management. Additionally, Prime Minister Modi will also release the IMD Vision-2047 documents which lay out plans for meteorological compatibility and climate change optimization. These plans include strategies for weather forecasting, management, and mitigation. The ceremony will also showcase the achievements of IMD over the past 150 years, highlighting its important role in contributing to India’s development. This mission is a significant step towards building a resilient and sustainable nation that is well-equipped to combat weather-related challenges.
With this launch, India is taking a proactive stance towards tackling weather and climate issues, further cementing its position as a global leader in this field.
