New Delhi, 18 January (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be distributing over 65 lakh property cards to property owners in more than 50,000 villages across 10 states and 2 union territories as part of the SVAMITVA scheme.
This landmark scheme, which was launched by the Prime Minister, aims to provide a ‘Record of Rights’ to households in rural areas through the use of drone technology for surveying. The scheme has already completed drone surveys in over 3.17 lakh villages and prepared nearly 2.25 crore property cards, marking a significant milestone in India’s rural empowerment and governance journey. The distribution of property cards will not only help reduce property disputes but also facilitate institutional credit and better assessment of properties and property tax in rural areas, enabling comprehensive village-level planning.
The scheme, which was launched on National Panchayati Raj Day in April 2020, has continued to make progress despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, on the 9th anniversary of the Startup India initiative, PM Modi expressed pride in its achievements and its role in empowering India’s youth.
