Delhi, 18 January (H.S.): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday raised questions on the debt and income figures filed in the election manifestos of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

BJP’s Delhi State President Virendra Sachdeva said in a press conference that two days ago, the BJP had raised a question of public curiosity that how is it possible that a Chief Minister files an income tax return of less than his basic income. He said that Arvind Kejriwal has not yet considered it necessary to answer this.

“Today we again ask Arvind Kejriwal a question that how is it possible that the income shown in your income tax returns in the last decade is less than your basic salary. How did your income increase 40 times during the Covid period when the liquor policy was made?” Virendra Sachdeva has said.

“we were still trying to understand how the income of a retired income tax officer and former Chief Minister can be less than the per-capita income of Delhiites, when our attention went to Manish Sisodia’s affidavit. The figures of debt on Sisodia in it raise hundreds of questions in the mind of every citizen.”, Sachdeva added

The Delhi BJP President has said,” nowadays it is normal for parents to take loans for the higher education of children, but in Manish Sisodia’s case, taking this education loan is an unusual thing. Generally we all take education loan for our children from bank but Manish Sisodia takes education loan from businessmen.”

Virendra Sachdeva said that Manish Sisodia’s election affidavit shows that Sisodia saves money in fixed deposits in bank like common people but when he needs to take loan, he has such friends who lend him lakhs of rupees that too for long term period. He said that as per Manish Sisodia’s returns, like every common citizen, Sisodia also prefers to go to government banks like he has a fixed deposit of 14 lakh in Bank of Baroda, Shakarpur and a fixed deposit of 19 lakh 97 thousand in Punjab National Bank Sahibabad. Like any middle class family, their savings figures are normal but when we look at the education loan figures of Manish Sisodia, it seems that this could be a case of manipulation.

Sachdeva said that the question is also why did Kejriwal-Sisodia take the loan, they could have taken benefit of any government scheme also and also explain that when they talk of big universities in Delhi then why did they send their son abroad to study. We do not have any objection to studying abroad, it is only a question of curiosity. He said that common people take long term loan from banks for the education of their children, while three of his acquaintances give a loan of 1.5 crore to Manish Sisodia, that too in the period of liquor policy, which raises this question. We want an answer from him.

Virendra Sachdeva has said that the people of Delhi want to know who are those three friends of Manish Sisodia, Romesh Chand Mittal, Deepali and Guneet Arora, who have given 86 lakh, 10 lakh and 58 lakh rupees as education loan to Sisodia’s son during the liquor policy controversy.
