Delhi, 31 January (H.S.): Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Economic Review of 2024-25 in Parliamentary today on Friday. The Economic Review assesses the performance of the economy in the current financial year as well as the challenges facing the country. Sitharaman will present the second full budget of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s NDA government on Saturday.
The review has been prepared by a team led by the country’s Chief Economic Advisor V. Anant Nageswaran. The Economic Review, presented in Parliament before the Union Budget, provides a blueprint for reforms and development. It outlines the development in the economy and various sectors besides providing an outlook for the next financial year.
The Economic Review is also expected to provide a detailed assessment of key activities such as slow growth rate, fall in the exchange rate of rupee against the US dollar and low demand for consumption. Apart from this, new and out-of-the-box ideas are often given in the economic review regarding challenges related to poverty alleviation, climate change, education, infrastructure development and financial sector.
The budget session of Parliament will begin on Friday with President Droupadi Murmu addressing the joint sitting of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The first part of the budget session will end on February 13 while the second part will begin on March 10 and end on April 4.
