Dehradun, 7 February (HS): The Taekwondo competitions of the 38th National Games started at Milam Hall, Manaskhand Sports Complex, Haldwani, where players from all over the country gave a strong performance. In the exciting Kyorgi competitions on the first day, the athletes displayed their agility, strength and technique and fought hard for the medals. In the women’s Kyorgi competitions, Tavisha Kakadiya of Gujarat won the gold medal in the under-46 kg category, while Vishakha Sah of Uttarakhand won the silver medal. In the under-57 kg category, Pooja of Uttarakhand performed brilliantly and won the gold medal, while Shivani Lala Bhilare of Maharashtra won the silver medal. In the under-73 kg category, Itisha Das of Chandigarh won the gold medal, while Payam Harshpradha of Telangana won the silver medal. Tremendous competitions were also seen in the men’s Kyorgi events. Ankit Mer of Services won the gold medal in the under-54 kg category, while Naveen of Services won the gold medal in the under-68 kg category. The final match of the under-87 kg category was very exciting, in which Shashank Singh Patel of Services won the gold medal.
Players of Uttarakhand made their presence felt by performing effectively in many categories. The players of the state gave a great introduction of their talent by winning medals and proved that the sport of Taekwondo is progressing rapidly in Uttarakhand.
The Taekwondo event in the 38th National Games has excited sports lovers with exciting matches and remarkable performances on the very first day. As the competition progresses, more exciting matches will be seen in various sports.
