Indore, 07 February (HS): In a horrific road accident in the early hours of Friday in Manpur police station area of Mhow tehsil in Indore district of Madhya Pradesh, six people including four devotees from Karnataka, who were returning after visiting Mahakal, died. 16 pilgrims were injured in this accident. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and the injured were admitted to MY Hospital in Indore for treatment. The police have started investigating the matter.
According to the Manpur police station, the pilgrims from Belgaum district of Karnataka had reached Ujjain late on Thursday evening for Mahakal Darshan. After visiting from there, all the pilgrims were returning to their village. On Friday morning at around three o’clock, a traveler full of pilgrims near Manpur first collided with a bike, after which it went out of control and rammed into a tanker. The accident was so severe that the traveler was completely damaged. Two people riding on the bike that got caught in the accident died on the spot. Also, two devotees riding in the traveler also died on the spot. 18 people injured in the accident were taken to MY Hospital, out of which two people died during treatment. In this way, a total of six people died in the accident, while the treatment of 16 injured is going on. Police has sent the bodies of the deceased for post-mortem and has started investigating the case. After the accident, there was a jam on the road, which has been removed by the police.
SI Ravi Kumar of Manpur police station said that on Rau-Khalghat highway, traveler number DD-01, Ek 9889 going towards Bherughat went out of control and hit the bike going ahead. After this, it hit the tanker number MP 09, HG 8024 from behind. Bike riders Himanshu, resident of Dharampuri and Shubham, resident of Sendhwa, died in the accident. Two women riding in the traveler also died on the spot in the accident. They have not been identified yet. He said that 18 injured were taken to MY Hospital, out of which Sagar (65) and Neetu (50) died during treatment. Currently 16 passengers are injured, whose treatment is going on.
He said that the injured include Savita (40) wife of Tukaram, Renu (35) wife of Subhash, Babita (56) wife of Fakira, Raju (63) son of Kishppu, Snehal (27) wife of Ramchandra, Malva (60) wife of Krishna, Tirtha (40) son of Ramchandra, Sunita (50) wife of Srikant, Shruti (32) wife of Amar, Prashant (52) of Kalappa, Bangal (55) wife of Vidyapa, Shankarava (60) son of Babu, Basavaraj (36) son of Shivaji, Lata (62) wife of Mukesh, Shivraj (31) son of Srikant and Panduranga (44) son of Shivaji. All these people are residents of Belgaum district of Karnataka.
