Imphal, 10 February (HS): Hours after the resignation of Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla cancelled the proposed assembly session on February 10. The Governor has accepted Biren Singh’s resignation. Biren Singh will continue to be the caretaker Chief Minister for the time being. In the official notification, the Governor has declared the current session of the Assembly as “null and invalid”.
The Governor revoked his earlier order issued on January 24, in which it was decided to convene the assembly session. The move has been taken amid the ongoing political instability in the state.
