Kolkata, 11 February (H.S.) – The Calcutta High Court has taken a stern stance on financial irregularities at RG Kar Hospital, instructing a swift conclusion to the hearing process. During Tuesday’s proceedings, discussions were held on the petition filed against former principal Sandeep Ghosh. However, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) failed to present all necessary documents, leading to the postponement of the hearing until February 18.
A division bench comprising Justice Jaymalya Bagchi and Justice Gaurang Kant stated, “Such corruption severely impacts the administration. It not only disrupts healthcare services but also contaminates the entire governance system. Therefore, it is crucial to expedite the hearing and resolution of this case.”
During the hearing, Sandeep Ghosh’s legal representatives informed the court that out of a total of 462 documents, the CBI had provided only 216. In response, the court directed the investigating agency to submit the remaining documents by February 12, ensuring the next hearing proceeds as scheduled on February 18.
The court emphasized that the charges against Sandeep Ghosh are of a serious nature and could significantly affect both society and healthcare services. The bench also noted that several government officials might be involved in the scam, urging a swift investigation and legal proceedings against them. The court added that a timely resolution of the case would reinforce public trust in the judicial system.
