Ayodhya Ram Mandir’s Chief Priest, Acharya Satyendra Das, passed away at the age of 85 at SGPGI Lucknow on Wednesday, confirmed the hospital.
Hospitalization and Health Conditions
On February 3, Acharya Satyendra Das was admitted to the hospital after suffering a brain stroke. He was later shifted to the Neurology ward HDU due to his critical condition. Despite receiving treatment, he passed away on Wednesday. The hospital also stated that he had been suffering from diabetes and hypertension.
His disciple, Pradeep Das, confirmed the news of his passing and announced that his cremation would take place on Thursday by the Saryu River in Ayodhya. His body was being transported from Lucknow to Ayodhya for the final rites.
Condolences and Legacy
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his grief, calling the priest’s passing “an irreparable loss.” Acharya Satyendra Das was the longest-serving chief priest of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple and played a significant role in the temple’s religious activities. His passing marks the end of an era for the historic temple.
