On Thursday night, former India captain Sourav Ganguly met with a car accident on the Durgapur Highway. Reportedly, the incident occurred near Dantanpur on the Highway. The former India captain was on his way to Burdwan but no one was injured.
The car was damaged slightly. Ganguly was travelling to Burdwan to attend an event when the accident occurred. He was in his Range Rover, which was moving at a very normal speed, when a lorry suddenly tried to cut into his convoy, leading the vehicle to lose control.
Ganguly’s driver applied the brakes immediately to stabilise the vehicle. The car right behind Sourav’s vehicle bumped into his Range Rover and Ganguly attended the event in Burdwan. Ganguly had to stop for 10 minutes before leaving for the event when the incident happened. The former India cricketer attended a program at Burdwan University, followed by his participation in another event organized by the Bardhaman Sports Association.
Ganguly said in a event, “I am overwhelmed. It feels great to be in Burdwan. I am even more happy that you invited me. BDS (Burdwan Sports Association) was asking me to come for a long time. It feels great to be here today. CAB has been working with the Burdwan sports organization for 50 years. Many players have emerged from the district. We will have to recruit players from the district in the same way in the future as well”.
Ganguly is considered as one of the best captains to have led India. During his tenure, India reached the final of the 2003 World Cup in South Africa. He also led India to a historic win on Pakistan soil. He was also instrumental in shaping the future of Indian cricket.
