In a game that was played at the Dubai International Stadium, India defeated Pakistan by six wickets to win their second ICC Champions Trophy match. The defeat against India is a second consecutive loss in the Champions Trophy for Pakistan who came into the match against India after losing against New Zealand.
Pakistan were knocked out of the Champions Trophy. Pakistan’s exit from the Champions Trophy is now confirmed after New Zealand’s win over Bangladesh with India and New Zealand both booking a place in the semi-finals.
Pakistan is again at a massive financial problem. This is because in the coming days it will become difficult for the PCB to find sponsors for the men’s team after their string of disappointing performances in ICC tournaments.
Pakistan Once Again Looking At Huge Financial Problems
India thrashed Pakistan by six wickets in their match in Dubai on Sunday, pushing the tournament hosts on the brink of elimination.
One day before India delivered a knockout blow to the team, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials were confident following a turnout at the Gaddafi Stadium for the Australia-England match.
A board official said, “It was an uplifting experience to see people respond and enjoy a match not involving Pakistan”.
The eight-team Champions Trophy is the first ICC event in Pakistan since the 1996 World Cup and there were expectations that the home team would have a good outing. A New Zealand win on Monday means both Bangladesh and Pakistan are out of the tournament.
