The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an alert for heavy rain in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan as March started on a wet note. The sudden change in weather was triggered by a Western Disturbance, which also brought snowfall and rain to Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, officials said. The National Capital Region (NCR) witnessed strong winds at 30-40 km/h, and the IMD predicted heavy rain with a storm on March 1, causing a drop in maximum temperatures. “People may have to face heavy rain along with strong storms on March 1, due to which a drop in maximum mercury will be recorded,” the IMD stated.
